GEOLOGY II - FOSSILS
I’m so excited about our Geology II Lab. (The Geology I lab is NOT a prerequisite… all students are welcomed.) In this lab we will learning about different types of fossils and how they are created. We’ll examine real fossils and learn how to classify them. Students will also create cast and mold fossils and participate in a mini fossil dig. We will also learn a brief geological history of Texas. All activities and experiments are hands-on and multilevel. Children ages 5 through 12 are welcome. Come join us in the schoolroom for this exciting lab. Each lab class is limited to 10 students.

ASTRONOMY II - MERCURY
Blast off into space! We’ll be visiting Mercury! (Astronomy I lab is NOT a prerequisite… all students are welcome.) In this lab, we’ll be learning all about Mercury! We’ll learn about gyroscopes and inertia, and why doesn’t Mercury cause an eclipse. Students will have fun creating craters on Mercury’s surface. We’ll also learn about Mercury’s past space probes – Mariner 10 and the Messenger. The BepiColumbo space probe is currently in route to Mercury and expected to arrive in November 2026. Each scientist will be able to create their own model of the BepiColumbo to take home. Astronauts will receive a Space Passport and will receive special stamps when they take an astronomy class. (I will give your child a stamp if your child attended Astronomy I – The Sun Lab.) Be sure to carry your Space Passport to every Astronomy class. (Please note: This is an ongoing study and it will take awhile to fill the passport.)
All activities and experiments are hands-on and multilevel. Children ages 5 through 12 are welcome. Come join us in the schoolroom for this exciting lab. Each lab class is limited to 10 students.

SCIENTIST SPOTLIGHT
SIR ISAAC NEWTON
Let’s mix a little science and history. Isaac Newton was one of the world's greatest scientists. Let’s find out why. In this lab we will learn about the life of the man who developed the theory of gravity. We will learn about his well-known and not so well-known inventions. How did Newton discover the theory of light and color? We will have hands-on experiments demonstrating Newton’s three laws of motion. All activities and experiments are hands-on and multilevel. Children ages 5 through 12 are welcome. Come join us in the schoolroom for this history filled, exciting lab. Each lab class is limited to 10 students..

BATTY ABOUT BATS
October is the perfect time to learn about bats. Did you know bats are the only mammals that can fly? We will investigate these mysterious nocturnal animals and learn how our ecosystem depends on them. Students will participate in several echolocation and sound wave experiments. We will have a special bat cave that we will explore and listen to bat sounds. Don’t miss this lab! I promise, the cave will be exciting! (The bat cave will be an outside activity and will be dependent on weather. In the case of inclement weather, we will reschedule the lab. Please watch for emails.) All activities and experiments are hands-on and multilevel. Children ages 5 through 12 are welcome. Come join us in the schoolroom (and bat cave) for this exciting lab. Each lab class is limited to 10 students.
